Spiritual Hunger

We started the week talking about thirst and now we will end it talking about hunger.  What does your soul hunger for? When you notice yourself feeling “hunger” of any kind, this is a great opportunity to notice what it is that your appetites are drawn to.

Questions:

1.       Rob says we stuff many things into our lives to suppress the spiritual hunger of our souls.  Is this something you struggle with?  If so, what are some of the things that you use to satisfy the hunger of your soul?

2.       What is one thing you can do this week to begin to feed your spiritual hunger in a way that would honor God and truly satisfy your soul?

Prayer:

Lord, we long for you to speak to us.  Help us to quiet ourselves before you.  Help us to be ready to receive your message.  Give us the patience to wait upon you without agenda.  To wait knowing that just sitting here with you is enough.

Exercise:

Find a quiet spot where you can relax.  Spend a few minutes emptying your mind and taking your focus off yourself and placing it on God.  Then when you are ready to listen, simply ask, “Lord, what is on your heart today?”
